About Me
My name is Katie Hamer and I live in Gledhow. I was a primary school teacher/ deputy head for 24 years and then I made a life-changing decision and I got a dog. Enter Eric the Springerdoodle!
Eric spent much of his early life in doggy day care. I went to work and he spent his day having fun with other dogs. In 2012 I decided that I really wanted to join him. I was ready for a new challenge, a better work life balance and set up my own pet care business. Over the years I have played with puppies, cared for lizards, tickled guinea pigs, fed rabbits, and spent many hours looking after cats while their families were away.
Then in 2018 my beloved Eric was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Through amazing holistic veterinary care he enjoyed three more years of squirrel-chasing, tennis ball-fetching, and barking at the postman! Eric passed away in 2021 and I busied myself studying. I achieved my Ofqual L3 Canine Care, Behaviour and Welfare and obtained my council home boarding licence. For a year I loved getting my ‘doggy-fix’ with my wonderful clients.
In March 2023 I welcomed Walter the Australian Labradoodle puppy. He has been raised with all the KPP pups and is a confident, bouncy, barky bundle of fun!
I now focus solely on boarding and group dog walking. I spend my days striding through wonderful parks, woods and fields.
I am fully insured and trained in canine first aid.
